She is a consummate professional; a fierce advocate for her patients, studious in her duties, but somewhat lacking in confidence as an inexperienced physician. Social and bubbly, her bedside manner is impeccable, though she prefers to defer to more experienced opinions if she can obtain them. Medical History

Personal History Jade was born on Earth in 2339 to loving parents Jed and Alice Petracca. Growing up in many idyllic cities on Earth during the Earth's most peaceful years, Jade attending school surrounded by doting teachers who fostered her gifts and encouraged her to pursue her curiosities; history, science, literature, there was nothing she was not allowed to explore.

As she grew up, she became interested in medicine. As a high school student, she undertook voluntary experiences in a medical clinic specialising in paediatrics. She thrived in this environment and was mentored by an old country doctor who taught her about the importance of practicing medicine with her head, heart and hands.

At the conclusion of her secondary schooling, Jade was admitted to the University of Sydney to begin her science degree. While never the top of her class, she proved to be a proficient academic who enjoyed the rigidity of science. While undertaking her degree, she continued to volunteer in medical clinics, learning the art of practicing medicine in a practical setting, where patients became family.

At the completion of her science degree in 2361, she was offered the opportunity to leave the safe confines of Earth to shadow a doctor on Far Station Reynolds near the Tzenkethi border. There, she was exposed to true xenomedicine. This was also her first interaction with Starfleet, whose injured troops streamed through the sickbay. While the experience was confronting and raw, Jade found herself enamored with the medical officers, some of which encouraged her to consider a future in Starfleet.

Returning to Earth, Jade progressed to Sloan Medical School, putting all her volunteer experience into academic practice. Again, she was never the star pupil. She was, however, one who sought new opportunities at every turn, spending her academic breaks going out to the frontiers to gain experience. Time and time again, she found herself working with Starfleet.

In 2365, she took on a medical internship at the Gregory House Memorial Hospital. Though she found the learning interesting and practical, it was far from the challenge she sought. At the conclusion of her internship, the Jade was offered an internship with a mobile medical team in the Federation's planetary outreach programs.

As an in-training civilian doctor, she often was rushed out to mining accidents in places administrated by the Dytallix Mining Company. However, as news of the Bajoran occupation hit the headlines around the Federation, she found herself in humanitarian relief missions, especially as the Cardassians began to deescalate.

At the completion of her medical training and now formally a doctor, Jade returned to Earth to enrol in Starfleet's officer commissioning program in 2367. While undertaking her Starfleet training, she assisted in the rehabilitation of survivors of Wolf 359, another harrowing experience. In 2368, Jade graduated and was posted to Caldik Prime, where she was mentored by Doctor Laurie Fitzgerald. In line with Starfleet Medical's officer training procedures, she was then rotated to the USS Thunderbird in 2369 for shipboard service.
